My friend and I are planning to stay here this summer and need to find somewhere to stay. One guy, one girl, but we need two bedrooms. We'd *love* to sublease a house/cabin around Cullowhee, but an apartment would be good too. We just need a home :P Any help?

Hey Cullowhee. I hope everyone's having a great start to the semester. I don't know how many people still keep up with this, but I thought I'd give it a shot:
I've got some hemp jewelry for sale. I can do several different styles and have a variety of beads that I can use. I have about 30 or 40 pre-made necklaces/bracelets/anklets for sale, or I could make custom pieces within a day or two.
Anklets are $3-$5, and necklaces are $8-12. If you're interested in seeing some pieces or asking me about a piece of jewelry, feel free to comment here or e-mail me @ email@example.com

Hey guys, hope you're all having a good summer. Anyone know a good place to take my car to get it inspected and/or to get some things looked at? It's been making grinding noises at me and refusing to shift smoothly (it's an automatic), so I'm a bit scared to drive it back and forth between here and Charlotte. Thanks. <3

Assuming the majority of you are attending WCU, could anyone tell me about how well the writing program there is? That and maybe anything you could tell me about philosophy programs? Thanks.

One of my classes tomorrow is in room "CDH B118". Anyone know what building that is? Central Drive Hall makes a bit of sense, but I have to ask anyway in case I'm just being slow. Thanks :)

Did you know in nineteen hundred and fifty two, I once crapped out an entire Canadian goose?
Maybe I'm just a big douchey idiot, but I have no earthly idea how to make a loft, tote it 6 hours up to Cullowhee, and set it up in my room. I'm simply baffled. If anyone has a loft for sale or would be willing to show me how the heck to make one, I'd be indebted to you forever.
Also, does anyone live anywhere near Raleigh, NC? Trying to find people close to home. Current Mood: confused

There's nothing wrong with going nowhere, baby - but we should be going nowhere fast...
I'm new - just finally got around to joining. My name is Kayla - I'm 18, from Raleigh, NC and I'll be moving in on the 19th for twenty five dollars extra because things are chaotic enough as is.
I only know a few people that attend WCU - so I am looking for friends that appreciate my oddities and frigginwickedbossawesome-ness. ;)
Anyhow, this was a lame entry but I'm generally not good at making newbie entries.
Western Carolina, look out because I'm coming! (And then I'm arrive - ooh, I made a naughty) Current Mood: sore

just for fun
This is just for fun- As you know, I recently wrote an entry about the things I don't like about Western. That got me thinking- We all have our complaints, but we also have things we absolutely love about the school/Cullowhee. These are mine (off the top of my head. i could think of more, i'm sure):
1). It's so damn pretty here. Especially when there is snow on the mountains, and in the fall. I've taken some pictures that would make great postcards.
2). Catamount Peak- I have lived there for a year, and I'm living there for another year and a half, til I graduate. It's just a great place to live. If you're looking for a place to live, I recommend you stop by the Clubhouse and get some info. Oh, and don't let the high price fool you- utilities are included.
3). Jack the Dipper! I love going in there!
4). Sylva- Just the whole town. There are so many neat stores there, so I can't go down there too often. I spend too much :(
5). Aunt B's Donut Shop- good ice cream, wonderful donuts. A little expensive, so you can't indulge too much.
6). Dr. Addison- For all you non English majors, Dr. Addy is the department head. She can be a bit scatterbrained, but she is super nice and will do anything she can to help you.
7). Java City- White Hot Chocolate and Italian Sodas. Good stuff.
8). The class sizes. Since I have been here, the largest class I have been in had 80 students. Most others have been anywhere from 20-33. This is one of the reasons I came to WCU.
9). Hunter Library- I know, I'm a nerd.
10). The intramural field/track by Ramsey Center. I run there daily.
11). Jan O'Brien at the UC! She is soooo sweet. I really miss her this summer. She sees thousands of people a day and remembers every single name, and she's always in a good mood. She even has 2 facebook groups dedicated to her, if not more.
well, that's all I can think of right now. What are some things you guys like? Current Mood: awake

Fourth of July
Does anybody know of any parties or anything going on for the Fourth? I'm staying up here that weekend, and was wondering if anyone knew of anything.
Let me know! Current Mood: bored

don't get me wrong, i love it here. there are some things i just really feel the need to bitch about, so here goes.
1). I hate that our beloved campus food costs so damn much. Why can't we just get a piece of cardboard and smear some ketchup on it? It would taste the same and be a hell of a lot cheaper. Eating healthier seems to be a hell of a lot more expensive. You can get the 2 pound and heart attack at 40 combo for 2 dollars, but when you want a salad or a sandwich, or something else with less than 800 calories, it's gonna cost you six bucks. Bottom line, those of us doing Weight Watchers, South Beach, or calorie elimination are just shit out of luck.
2). I hate that our campus is over run with children. Everywhere you look- legislative school with immature high school children, orientation and all the rising freshmen that think they are college students (don't fuck with me- just b/c you're enrolled here for fall doesn't make you a college student. i'm a junior.); those damn football camp middle schoolers, the tots doing swim lessons at Breese, and the ballerinas that hang out in the Breese dance studio and have taken over the Centennial Drive Subway. Argh! There was a line at Brown, for Pete's sake. There is never a line at Brown, cause it sucks. I actually didn't have time to eat there because they were all lined up outside the door and I had a class to get to.
3). I hate that Chancellor Bardo has very cleverly re-routed his roads through campus to showcase all the new buildings he has built. I really hate that he has complicated our campus. Why can't we have a road running through the middle of it like we used to? Oh yeah- because pedestrians are safer this way. If you'd learn not to walk out in front of cars without looking, you wouldn't get hit by cars. It's as simple as that. NC State has a damn 4 lane highway running through the middle of their campus. I mean, really!
4). I hate that WCU spends money on athletics and aesthetics instead of things we actually need, like renovated dorms and classroom buildings, along with more parking and better food. Instead, we are getting 2 new softball fields we don't need. We lost 43 parking spaces, (behind the UC), and they are now building a parking garage. Why didn't they wait to convert those 43 spaces after they'd completed the parking garage? They do stupid things like that around here all the time. I really hate the administration here. It's getting better though. Since I've come to school here, I've noticed that you can ask 4 members of the administration the exact same question and get about 6 different answers. WTF? Current Mood: irritated

Hey I am Brittani and I plan to major in Computer Science/Technology and minor in Communications but I am a little unsure of what is a really good college for the major of Computer Science. I live in NC and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good college in NC that is good for Computer Science. I am currently looking at Western Carolina, University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill, North Carolina State and University of North Carolina @ Charlotte.
I am a rising senior in HS and thanks in advance. Current Mood: anxious

Just tossing this out here... is anyone in the group going to be at wcu for the fall 06 semester? I will be joining the campus for my jr. year - grad school starting then (right now I'm at wayne community college earning my associates in art to transfer). Don't want to go across the big bad state all by myself and would like to spend the time between now and then getting to know some people. You know, that whole support group friend-thing =) Current Mood: curious

I'm currently a junior, but I just finished registering for SATs/ACTs lately, and the "Send Your Scores" section really motivated me to find the "perfect" college. I remembered getting info about WCU at a college fair that sparked my interest, but the broucher is definitely not as good as getting info from actual people. So bascially, I'll spare you the rest of my life story and just ask if there's anything particularly exciting about WCU. My school is pretty small (400ish students) and I'm looking for a college with about 5,000-10,000. Dorm space is crucial as well. And the social scene ... obviously is top priority. If you could just leave some comments about WCU, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Been A While..
wow..the past few days have been beautiful here...now I get up this morning and look out my window and it's nasty...rainy...makes me want to crawl back in bed...but classes call so I'm dragging myself to class. It's weird how a beautiful day makes you want to skip class to be outside, and then the next rainy day you wanna skip to sleep...but who could blame me for wanting to skip college vocab? If I can just make it to may...I'll be outta here..well western at least...oh well..gonna go get ready for class now...

OKay, so I'm going to be a freshman at Western in the fall and I have a couple of questions if anyone can answer them. What's the best place to meet people? Is it better to loft the beds in the dorms or bunk them? Which caf has better food? Is Helder a good dorm? I think that's what I put as my first choice. If anyone can help me out then I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Current Mood: relaxed
